Chairperson and Founder member
Rev. CMK Dlamini
Rev. Dlamini spent forty years in the ministry in many varied parishes throughout South Africa. Since his retirement he has been an Executive Committee member of many forums and is presently the chairperson of the GJ Crookes Hospital Board and the Dududu Primary Health Care clinic. His work and interest in the field of HIV and AIDS is extensive and he has been instrumental in setting up the Man to Man programme. He is a well known figure throughout the community and brings energy, practical support, heartfelt prayer and spiritual guidance to UVHAA in a number of ways.
Vice Chairperson
Mr. Prince Khuluse
Mr. Khuluse lives in Mkhunya where he is a key community figure and lay preacher. He has been instrumental in establishing and maintaining the Enkanini Creche which is supported by UVHAA. He works at Sappi Saiccor as a peer educator and first aider and has introduced the “Man to Man’ programme successfully to the workplace. Sappi Saiccor is presently introducing the programme to all their workplaces under his guidance.
Secretary
Mrs. Bonnie van Deventer
Mrs. Van Deventer has many years of secretarial experience as a private secretary and has been involved in many different businesses. In addition to carrying out secretarial duties for UVHAA she is the Project Manager for all the orphans and vulnerable children’s programmes run by UVHAA. She also administers the AFSA Cultural Health Programme for Rural Men as Partners and Fathers.
Treasurer and Founder Member
Mrs. Maurean Whitfield
Mrs. Whitfield was employed by the Department of Health as sub district coordinator for UGU North before retiring and since then has been actively involved with UVHAA. She has more than 15 years of experience in setting up and operating health programmes and holds Post Graduate Diplomas in Health Service Management and Management of HIV/AIDS in the Workplace.

Dr. David Palmer Founder Member
Dr. Palmer has extensive experience in the health field as both a medical doctor and radiologist. He was part of Rotary Club involvement in HIV/AIDS work in Maputoland in 2002 and 2003 . As our first fund raiser he laid the foundation for the successful expansion of UVHAA and our long and successful relationship with Rotary Clubs in South Africa and the UK. Dr. Palmer was instrumental in establishing the “Man to Man” programme which has further developed into the “Cultural Health Programme for Rural Men as Partners and Fathers”.
Mrs. Jill Mansfield
Mrs. Jill Mansfield has been an active supporter of UVHAA for many years and is always ready to turn a hand for whatever task is required. She also acts as secretary to her father, Dr. David Palmer, and also deputises for the secretary when required.
Mr. Sbu Maphumulo
Mr. Maphumulo has been an HIV activist for the last ten years. As a PLWA he is a forceful speaker at Awareness Days and community events. He is employed at GJ Crookes Hospital as a Lay Counsellor.
Mrs. Lorraine Mtethwa
Mrs Mthetwa is a resident in Amandawe and takes an active interest in community health. She is part of the UVHAA HBC sub committee and part of the team which packs equipment and surgical sundries for use in the homes.
Mr. Armstrong Luthuli
Mr. Luthuli represents the Amandawe Community Care Centre on the Committee. He is a widely experienced administrator who worked for SAPPI SAICCOR at Umkomaas until retirement. He is active in many community ventures which relate to health, housing and the care of the aged.
Mrs. Zanele Mvubu
Mrs. Mvubu lives at Dududu and has been a colleague of UVHAA staff for many years. In 2010 she has joined the Committee for the first time. Mrs. Mvubu is the Secretary of the Masiqwashisane Traditional Healers Support Group. She is qualified to train other traditional healers on HIV/AIDS and TB issues and can provide valuable advice on Zulu traditional custom as it relates to health.

Medical consultant
Dr. Karen Volker
Dr. Volker was a founder member of UVHAA and served on the Committee for many valuable years. She is presently the ARV Manager at GJ Crookes Hospital and takes an active part in ensuring that UVHAA remains updated with new policy decisions and treatment regimes.
Financial consultant
Mr. Bill Mason
Before retirement Mr. Mason was a bank manager and internal auditor for First National Bank. He brings a wealth of financial knowledge and expertise to the financial management of all UVHAA programmes. As a previous Committee member he now provides an invaluable service to the Committee and ensures all financial procedures are correctly carried out.
