FUNDERS IN 2011

We are extremely grateful to all of our donors both here and abroad. Their support has made it possible for UVHAA to continue providing services in 2011 in accordance with our Vision and Mission statements.

The Home Based Care programme has been funded by the following organisations:

  • R250,000 from joint OXFAM HIV and AIDS programme (JOHAP) for the Dumisa and Kenterton areas;this contract ends in June 2011
  • R355,000 from the Stephen Lewis Foundation for Mkhunya, Kwajoni, Dududu and KwaMbiyane areas; this contract ends in December 2011.
  • The Stephen Lewis Foundation are also funding a programme for Caring for Care Workers and have pledged R735,000 for this project which should have been completed in May 2011.  An extension has been applied for until december 2011.

R485,000 has been granted to the Cultural Health Programme for Men as Rural Partners and Fathers by AFSA for a further 12 month period until March 2012.

The SAGA Charitable Trust UK will fund the Home Based Care Programme in Umdoni North directly to the Amandawe Community Care Centre with UVHAA acting as a mentoring and support organisation from April 2011.  This is in keeping with the UVHAA strategic plan of handing over programmes to Community Based Organisations wherever possible. Basingstoke and Downham Market Rotary clubs in the UK have supported the Centre with funds for the renovations of the centre.
