A Tribute to our Patron: Peter Carr

1st December 1954 – 1st October 2011.

In 2008 Peter visited KwaZulu Natal in his role as Trustee of the Saga Charitable Trust.  He was greatly impressed with the work of UVHAA and quickly became involved in a number of our projects.  He especially enjoyed visiting Mkhunya and meeting many community members there.  On returning to England he graciously consented to becoming our Patron and pledged to utilise his many talents to contribute to the fight against HIV and poverty in South Africa.  Sadly ill health prevented him from returning to South Africa to see at first hand all the projects which Saga supported as he passed away in 2011.  The following words sent to England by Rev. CMK Dlamini were included in the Memorial service held in Folkestone England.

Nkosi muphe umphumulela wafuthi

Nokukhanya kwaphakade kumkhanyele

Makaphumule ngobuhle    Amen

Translation of above

“Lord grant him everlasting rest… Let the eternal light ever shine upon him.    May his spirit rest in peace”                           Amen

Special prayers were held at the same time in places around the world where Peter had spent many happy times including Bangkok, Mumbai, Malaysia and at the Umkomaas Methodist Church Hall.

He will be sadly missed here and around the world.

Peter Carr
